On the 18th of September 42 International Women from the International Women Club-South Limburg ( IWC-SL) attended an unforgettable Summer Welcome Back Party at a Glo-Art Center in Neerharen-Lanaken, Belgium.
After a difficult period of lockdown during which the club and its previous event coordinator Nikki Beulens organised the whole spectrum of online activities it was the first time in almost 18 months that the members of the club met in person.
During the party the members had a chance to admire an amazing art collection presented by Glo-Art Center in a private tour and afterwards enjoy a delicious dinner at an amazing location.
During the dinner all the members created also their own painting as a sign of connection after the lockdown.
The president of the International Women Club South Limburg Monique Caelen said the following about this event: ”It was such a great happening because we were able to meet some of our members at a fabulous Party.
For me as ‘COVID President’, it has been so hard during the last period that we couldn’t do anything except the Zoom Meetings. The Party had everything it should have. A beautiful culture program in a breath-taking environment, good food and drinks, artistic and enthusiastic employees, and of course our lovely members! I really hope that this was the start of a fantastic IWC South Limburg club year.’’
Nurlaila Olson, the activities coordinator and a board member:’’ We made it to start our great kick off for our first IWC season! Our Summer Welcome Back pARTy was a success. The fact that we made it through all the difficulties in this strange time – to have a party outside again it was an achievement, and the venue was amazing. All the ladies looked fabulous with their colorful dresses! The total that attended was 42 ladies from 23 different countries that night.
Covid-19 is real, let’s get that right. We can’t take it for granted and I personally experienced it. We have endured so many challenges during these strange times. We had our ups and downs while we were in a total lockdown, but we need to keep going. When we did everything online – that was the biggest challenge. It was only 20% of the members joined the Zoom activities. It’s hard to do activities online and most of the members don’t like it, but we had no other options.
Nothing makes me happier than to see that the members faces are smiling and talking – freely. Being able to hug each other again, to hear their stories – for me these are the most rewarding moments, especially since I have taken on the role as Activity Coordinator.”
