Agata Szostkowska-Stanisławska, author of many articles for our Central and Eastern Europe Center promoting Poland abroad, long-time journalist and publisher of TVP, dies

Dear Agata,

For several days we can not recover. This is a shock and a great loss.

We will miss you. Your professionalism, your smile, your voice. Thank you for being with us.

Rest in peace.

Our deepest condolences to your loved ones, son Michal, family and friends.

Beata Bruggeman-Sekowska

“Yesterday I had a great sadness to say goodbye to my dear mother for the last time. She always thought of others first and only then of herself. For 26 years of my life, she always put me first. I could never have asked for a more loving and devoted mother,” Agata’s son Michał Stanisławski wrote on social media on April 1.

Agata has cooperated with our Central and Eastern Europe center since 2016 promoting Poland internationally by writing around 50 wonderful articles about the beauty of Poland and Polish achievements and Polish history. Her first article was entitled: ”I hope I will manage to infect you with love to my country: Poland”. She shared with our readers her personal photos, stories and memories connected with Poland.

She loved Poland and was proud of our country and yes, she infected our international audience with love to Poland, her articles were read almost on every continent.

Agata has cooperated with Polish Television for 33 years. She was a TV producer, director, writer, translator and screenwriter. She shaped live programs at the most sensitive moments in our history – when John Paul II passed away, on the day of the attack on the World Trade Center, the outbreak of war in Iraq or the Smolensk disaster. During broadcasts of state ceremonies – the Constitution Day on May 3, Independence Day – she cooperated with the most important state institutions.

For TVP Polonia she was the producer of the programs: “Halo Polonia” and “Polonia is a Woman.” She was also the producer of an extremely important event for Polonia ( Polish people abroad) – the World and European Championships of Polonia Football Teams in Leszno. Agata participated in the productions of Polish Television’s flagship programs – “Coffee or Tea,” “Question for Breakfast,” “Election Night” or “The Big Test.”

In the autumn of 2018, Agata expanded her professional horizons by joining Polsat Rodzina, where she co-created the morning show “Mamma Mia”, adding another successful project to her portfolio.

Her career took another illustrious turn in December 2021 when she began collaborating with TVP World, contributing to the programs “World Today” and “Business Arena”.

She was also an author  of  “On the Road to Happiness. Travel Notes” and “State of Love. A guidebook for those preparing to travel to Hawaii”.
