Mr. Marcin Czepelak, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, on September 13, 2017 deposited the letters of credentials at the hands of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander. The ceremony was held at the Noordeinde Palace in The Hague, one of the three official residences of the Royal Family of the Netherlands. It is worth emphasizing the symbolic significance of the date – precisely 98 years ago Jan Włodek chargé d’affaires of the Polish delegation in The Hague, became the first Polish representative in the Netherlands after Poland regained independence in 1918.
Ambassador Marcin Czepelak graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University. His doctoral thesis on international agreements was awarded the Prime Minister’s Award in 2006 for the best doctoral thesis and distinction in the “State and Law” competition. In 2016 he received a PhD. He is the author of monographs and scientific articles on International civil proceedings, protection of foreign investment and treaty law. These publications were published in Polish, English and Italian.
He gained experience in local government administration working in the City of Krakow. Since 2006 he has been professionally associated with the Jagiellonian University, where he lectured at the Department of Private International Law in the fields of international contract law, private international law and international inheritance law. He is associated with several international research centers, such as the Max Planck Institute in Hamburg and the University of Cambridge, where he led research projects. During his internships and academic visits he attended classes organized by the Hague Academy of International Law. He also received scholarships from the Government of the French Republic and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
