Words matter: a matter of historic integrity

”Words Matter” is a video prepared by The Polish Embassy in Washington whose purpose is to point out and correct historic distortions influencing in a negative way the image of Poland. According to Poland.pl  every year, the Polish Embassy in the United States carries out several dozen interventions so that information on Poland will be presented in an accurate way. Every year Polish embassies around the world  intervene several hundred times. Unfortunatley such offensive terms as  “Polish death camps” and “Polish concentration camps”, which suggest that Poles were responsible for war crimes are still used.  In the video the Polish Embassy in Washington requests correcting these offensive terms and using instead such phrases as  “German Nazi concentration / death camp in occupied Poland” or “Nazi concentration / extermination camp in Polish territory occupied by Germany”.
