Did you know that the highest buidling of the European Union is located in Warsaw, capital city of Poland?
Since 22 February 2021 the highest building in the EU has been the Varso Tower, which is 310 meters high with spire and 230 meters high of the roof top. This skyscraper is located in the center of Warsaw at Chmielna street next to the capital center station and it is made of concrete.
The skyscraper surpassed Commerzbank Tower and the Messturm in Frankfurt as well as the London skyscraper The Shard, whose spire ends 40 centimeters lower than in Varso.
The name Varso, refers to the Latin name for Warsaw – Varsovia. Varso has an area of 70,000 sq m spread over 53 floors. At the top there is a panoramic terrace and a restaurant, which is an amazing tourist attraction. Access to the terraces on the 49th and 53rd floor is possible directly from the ground through two panoramic elevators. The building has a direct underground connection with the Central Railway Station
Varso is part of a complex Varso Place consisting of three skyscrapers: Varso Tower (310 meters, 53 floors) and Varso 1 and Varso 2 with heights of 81 and 90 meters. ( 21 floors)
The total area of this multi-storey building reaches 144 500 m² of space for lease. The office part occupies almost 64 thousand square meters and the commercial and service premises exceed 10 thousand square meters. Besides the office space there is also retail space, bars and restaurants. Varso 1 will have a two-level fitness club, a hospital and a 4-star NYZ hotel with 330 rooms.
The complex is equipped with modern air circulation systems, server room cooling, access control, as well as cooling systems and lighting controlled by motion sensors. There are 47 elevators 3 meters high located in two sets of double-deck elevators, serving two floors at the same time. They move at a speed of several meters per second.
On three underground floors there are 1100 parking spaces for cars and 80 spaces for motorcycles. There is also space for 750 bicycles in the complex and the surroundings.
Varso was designed by Foster and Partners and developed by HB Reavis. Foster and Partners is a famous London-based architectural studio. Their main works include: The Gherkin and Wembley Stadium in London, the dome of The Berlin Parliament and Hong Kong Airport.
The two lower skyscrapers of the complex were designed by the Polish studio HRA Architekci (Hermanowicz Rewski Architekci).
