Loving Vincent (Polish: Twój Vincent) is a Polish-British production and is nominated in the category animated feauture. It is a biographical animated drama film about the life and the circumstances of the death of a famous Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh. It is the first fully painted animated feature film. It is written and directed by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman.
Each of the film’s 65,000 frames is an oil painting on canvas, using the same technique as Van Gogh, created by a team of 115 painters. The film premiered at the 2017 Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
Loving Vincent has been funded by the Polish Film Institute and partially through the campaign of Kickstarter. Kickstarter is an American public-benefit corporation which is located in New York. This company maintains a global crowdfunding platform.
