Istria region in Slovenia (Slovene: Slovenska Istra, Italian: Istria slovena) is a region located in the southwest region of Slovenia. It consists of the northern part of the Istrian peninsula, and it is part of the wider geographical-historical region known as the Slovene Littoral (Primorska). Its largest urban center is Koper, which is also the biggest harbour of Slovenia. Other large settlements are Izola, Piran and Portorož. The whole region has around 120 settlements. In its coastal area, both the Slovene and Italian languages are official.
One of our favourite places in this region is definitely Piran, a pictoresque town, a place which preserved its unique atmosphere, medieval architecture and it looks as if it was taken out of the postcard.
The narrow streets, beautiful Tartini square, unforgettable sea view, friendly people and fantastic food.
