Quit Staring at My Plate (Croatian: Ne gledaj mi u pijat) is a 2016 Croatian-Danish drama film written and directed by Hana Jušić. Quit Staring at My Plate is her feature film debut.
Marijana (24) lives with her controlling father, mentally disabled older brother and mother in a tiny apartment. They drive one another crazy. When her father gets a stroke and is bedridden she has to take over the role of the breadwinner. She works two jobs and finally is driven to the edge. She gets involved in sexual relations with strangers which gives her a taste of freedom.
The film premiered in the Venice Days section at the 73rd edition of the Venice Film Festival. It was awarded the Fedeora Award for Best European Film.

This year record number of 92 films have been submitted for consideration in this year’s foreign-language Oscar race.
Among the first-time entrants are Haiti, Honduras, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Mozambique, Senegal, and Syria.
Final final five nominations in the category Best Foreign Film will be announced on January 23. The Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 4 2018 and will be broadcast live to more than 225 countries.
