Honorary Consul of Lithuania visits Lithuanian Druskininkai spa resort

On April 30 Honorary Consul of Lithuania in the Netherlands, Mr Aloys Bruggeman RE RA together with his wife, international journalist and chief editor of Central and Eastern Europe Center Ms Beata Bruggeman-Sekowska and their children visited beautiful Lithuanian spa town of Druskininkai to discuss with representatives of local government as well as with the representatives of a tourism and business center the possibilities of cooperation between Druskininkai and the Netherlands.

For centuries Druskininkai has been valued for its natural healing resources. It offers mineral waters, mud treatments, clear air and amazing pine forests. Druskininkai is the most highly-forested resort in Lithuania. In the Druskininkai resort you will find the largest base of wellness centers in Lithuania. It has a total of nine health centers, which together provide more than four hundred forms of therapy.

Besides SPA therapy and procedures, rehabilitation treatment and unique climate and nature Druskininkai offers various cultural and leisure events and amenities all year round, including Druskininkai Resort Festival from 26-28 May.

Mr Aloys Bruggeman and his family went on a sightseeing tour organized by Ms Lilijana Stepanoviene “Retro Druskininkai” through the rich and impressive history of the town. They learnt about the history development of the mineral town from the 17th century, they admired the unique wooden architecture, the cultural Jewish heritage and followed traces of the unique Lithuanian artist M. K. Čiurlionis who had lived and had created in Druskininkai. They visited the Church of Saint Mary’s Scapular with St. Valentine’s relics and saw the curved bridge.

Mr Bruggeman visited during his visit impressive Olympic Sports Center and met its manager Mrs. Aurelija Urbonaviciute Badyanova together with Ms Agne Erhard manager of international markets of Druskininkai tourism and business information center and Mr. Povilas Gorelčenkas tourist manager of Druskininkai tourism and business information center.

Afterwards they were joined by the director of Druskininkai tourism and business information center Mr Rimantas Palionis and visited the Druskininkai Aqua Park, and took a ride by a Druskininkai cable car to a Snow arena.

After visiting the Ski Arena Mr Bruggeman and his family met with the mayor of the city of Druskininkai Municipality Mr Ričardas Malinauskas and his staff. During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of attracting more tourists from the Netherlands to Druskininkai. The Dutch guests pointed out that high-quality, modern infrastructure was created in Druskininkai and the service sector is offered at a high level.

Mr Bruggeman stayed at an impressive Mineral SPA Draugystė, which is an exceptional hotel with a specilaized spa and sanatorium with long-standing therapeutic tradition, offering treatments, rehabilitation and SPA procedures.
