The international George Take the Keys” (Jurginės) Festival celebrates its 35th anniversary and takes place in spring! Recognized as part of Lithuania’s intangible cultural heritage, this festival marks the arrival of spring with folk music, dance, and symbolic rituals, where Saint George is said to “take the keys” to unlock the earth for the new season.

From April 23–27 this year, Palanga will be filled with spring joy, live music, and the best of local traditions. This unique is not only about folklore but also celebrates the awakening of nature! The festive parade with folklore ensembles from all over Lithuania will march to Birutė Park, greeting the earth with songs and music. This year, special guests – dancers from Palanga’s partner city in France, Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie – will also join the festivities.

Later in the year, in September, the International Folk Dance Festival “Palangos miestely” invites artists from around the world to Palanga, where they showcase their traditional dances, music, and customs. Throughout the festival, Vytautas Street is bustling with a lively marketplace offering Lithuanian delicacies, homemade bread, and unique souvenirs, creating a festive atmosphere that attracts visitors from all corners of the globe.

Stinta festival

If you’re visiting Palanga during the right season, don’t miss out on the city’s  Stinta festival. Each February, Palanga transforms into a haven for seafood enthusiasts during the annual Palangos Stinta festival. Visitors can savor the distinctive cucumber-scented smelt, or “stinta,” prepared in various styles—fried, smoked, pickled, or baked. The town’s main street, J. Basanavičiaus, becomes a bustling open-air restaurant, offering an array of fish delicacies. Beyond the culinary delights, attendees can engage in fishing competitions, explore folk art and culinary heritage fairs, and enjoy lively music performances, making it a vibrant celebration of Lithuanian coastal traditions. • Interior Ambiance: The main hall, accommodating up to 2,200 guests, is adorned with brownish wooden beams, green seating, and frameless glass railings. This combination creates a soothing and contemporary atmosphere, ensuring excellent stage visibility from every seat.
