Hospital Alliance Takes Action Again to Preserve Zuyderland Hospital in Dutch Heerlen

The Parkstad region municipalities are preparing for discussions with the board of Zuyderland Hospital, while the Dutch Parliament and Cabinet are once again debating the issue. There is every reason for the Hospital Alliance to take action because the fight to keep the hospital open is far from over.
Our message remains the same: The residents of Parkstad have the right to quality healthcare close to home, and Zuyderland must be preserved. In a year when the press and politicians reflect on the history of the mines and the consequences of their closure fifty years later, we are fighting to prevent the closure of our hospital. Parkstad will not be sidelined.
On the evening of Tuesday, March 18, we will shine a spotlight on Zuyderland Hospital so that the decision-makers at health insurer CZ and politicians in The Hague see how much good healthcare means to us. During this march, we will literally and figuratively shine a light on our Zuyderland and demonstrate our determination.
“This march is a powerful signal. We will not back down,” says Theo de Groot of the Hospital Alliance. “We are letting Zuyderland, The Hague, and CZ know that we will keep fighting for a fully-fledged hospital in Parkstad. This is our healthcare, our region, and our future.”
We call on everyone to join us and send a strong message to The Hague, Zuyderland, and health insurer CZ: Our fight for a full-fledged hospital in Parkstad continues!
