From 1 February, anyone under the age of 18 can visit the Thermenmuseum in Heerlen for free. Moreover, from that date on, schools can also visit Hoensbroek Castle free of charge. In both Thermenmuseum and Kasteel Hoensbroek, schools only pay a contribution for material and guidance.
“Thermenmuseum and Hoensbroek Castle tell the story of our city. We think it is important that children know and understand where they come from. That is not only educational but also gives a feeling of pride! ”, says Jordy Clemens, alderman of Heerlen.
In this way, children and young people are introduced to the history of Heerlen in an easily accessible way, regardless of their background or social environment. They are also more likely to visit a museum later on if they come into contact with heritage and museums at a young age.
All schools in Heerlen will soon receive more information about this subject.
