Polish and Dutch Medical Terminology ISBN: 9789079532025

On the 4th of May my family and me were invited by the Polish Public Television TVP Polonia to the Live show Halo Polonia, which is broadcast internationally.
In the show we talked about living in a multicultural family, cultural differences, about being bilingual and the initiative of Polish school in Roterdam: Young Ambassador of Poland. We also discussed our 7 publications and devoted attention to: Dutch-Polish Medical Terminology ( original title: Medisch Pools, Medisch Nederlands. Thematische woordenschat voor iedereen.
Beata Bruggeman said: ”I remember when I was giving birth to my first child in the Dutch hospital and that it was not that easy to communicate due to emotions and all the feelings you experience on such a moment. Therefore I thought I need to write a medical language book to help other mothers, so my book: Medisch Pools, Medisch Nederlands ( Dutch-Polish Medical Terminology) was created.”
The book was signed by Beata Bruggeman-Sekowska at the studio and was won by one of the viewers.
The show can be watched here: http://halopolonia.tvp.pl/24892319/04052016-2220 and it starts at 6.50.

Polish and Dutch Medical Terminology (original title:  Medisch Pools, Medisch Nederlands. Thematische woordenschat voor iedereen)  is an indispensable professional source not only for doctors, nurses, and other medical staff but for all the people who need medical help, for all Polish and Dutch people who live in Poland or the Netherlands. This is a unique book since no such book exists on Dutch, Polish or Belgium market. This book can be used as a self-study book and at the same time for courses and private lessons. It consists of 26 parts. In the first one you will find information about Polish and Dutch language and the alphabet. In the parts 2-23 you will find a specific medical vocabulary such as among others: illness and disease, parts of the body, medical apparatus, appointment with a doctor and a dentist, describing symptoms, various doctors, in the hospital, in the drugstore, types of drugs, articles of clothing, food, dates and other expressions of time. A very important part of the book are medical texts, most of them primary sources. Here you will find medical vocabulary used in context.

Parts 24 and 25 are exercises with answers. Part 26 is devoted to pronunciation.
