Four Oscar Nominations for Poland
Poland has been nominated for four Oscars for the following categories:
– Ida (Foreign Language Film)
– Ida (Cinematography)
– Joanna (Documentary Short Subject)
– Our Curse ( Documentary Short Subject)
Ida has been directed by Pawel Pawlikowski. It tells a story about Anna, a young novitiate nun in 1960s Poland, who is on the verge of taking her vows when she discovers a dark family secret dating back to the years of the Nazi occupation.
Our Curse ( Original title: Nasza Klatwa) is directed and written by Tomasz Sliwinski. The film is a personal statement of the director and his wife, who have to deal with an incurable disease of their newborn son.
