Interview with Ms Karolina Kępczyk, director of Koziołek Matołek Fairy Tale Center in Pacanów.
As a partner of many years of the Fairy Tale Center we were happy to hear the great news, Congratulations. Fairy Tale Center will receive 20 million zl for the expansion and foundation of the new center. Can you please tell us more about it.
We have received high funding from the European Union through the Regional Operational Program of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship for the extension of the Fairy Tale Center to the external Theme Park The Fairy Tale. We have reached the 1st place on the list in the opinion of the selection board. Our dream has come true! There will be various attractions on two hectares. Preparation lasted four years, four years of intensive work on the concept, design. And Finally we have it!
These are the drawings of the new project. Can you elaborate on them?
The Fairy Tale Park will contain of small architecture, nature, thematic paths, a comic maze, fountains, a small zoo, a salt cave, places for family picnics, children’s entertainment zones. The park will serve residents and tourists as a recreation, fun and education center. The idea behind creation of the park is promoting Polish fairy tales internationally.
When are you starting with the project and when it is expected to be finished?
The schedule looks like this: I will sign a contract within a month, then we will announce tenders, and in the spring of 2019 we intend to start construction. We plan to open the Park on May 2022.
Why is this project important for the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship and international cooperation?
This project is of historic importance for Pacanów. The highest ever amount of co-financing has been granted here. Higher than the commune budget for the whole year. The European Tale Center together with the theme park will become a few-day attraction and a chance to build a tourist product. Pacanów is a strong Polish cultural and tourist brand, recognized also in Europe. The availability of more attractions for guests will definitely lead to more interest and more visit. At present, European Tale Center can accommodate 600 visitors. After opening the Park, the number will increase to 2000 guests a day. We will continue to build and expand international cooperation. Cultural events will also be organized in the Park. Additionally this new project will offer lots of chances for our region, it will create jobs for many people and activate our community.
What would you like to say to our audience at the end of this interview?
Koziołek Matołek Fairy Tale Park will be the place to be for all age groups. The visitors in this park will learn, have fun and relax. It will be the place where literature, fairy tales, education, culture and tourism will be combined. Koziołek Matołek (Matołek the Billy-Goat) is a character created by Kornel Makuszyński (story) and Marian Walentynowicz (art) in one of the first and most famous Polish comics in 1933.
